The Double Kit contains 2 slabs of soapstone with your choice of two animal designs (Buffalo, Simple bear, detailed bear, dolphin, whale, turtle, coyote or wolf) on them, 2 different carving files (Rifflers), sandpaper, steel wool and instructions. You may mix or match the animal designs.

Excellent for beginners, projects can be completed within 1 hour to 2 hours depending on wrist strength and age. Used by many schools, scout troops and 4 different Indian museums in California. This stone carving kit makes a very fine Educational Toy.

My goal with my carving kits is to give the first time carver a project that you can succeed at and be very satisfied with the results. I've seen many short attention span kids (and adults) give up when their first carving experience was too big a project for them that's why i came up with this size, stick with it for 1 to 2 hours and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results and be more inclined to try a second carving. Take your time and good luck.

"After carving the 4 slabs with the designs on them I feel you will be ready to try something free form with the bulk piece (or pieces) , if the free form does not work out for you you can cut your bulk piece into slabs with any saw that you may have around and draw your own designs on the slabs. EAST INDIAN SOAPSTONE BLOCK

It carves like alabaster and is harder than my regular soapstone. Shades of light green to purple. Blocks measure about 5" x 3" X 3" (12.7 cm x 7.62 cm x 7.62 cm) in size and weight about 5 pounds (2.27 kilograms). East Indian soapstone is used alot for the base of fine trophies. In the picture of the 3 soapstone blocks the upper and right hand ones have been coated with clear gloss Varathane to bring out the lovely colors while the lower left hand block has been left in its natural state for comparision.

For first time carvers this might be on the hard side. I usually recommend a softer stone for beginners. (Try my 6 pound (2.72 kilograms) bulk soapstone listing in my Ebay Store.) but the East Indian Soapstone Block is excellent for slabing thin for pendants & beads. For those who have carved before you will love it.

This is Amanda, one of my younger carvers and one of my best. She attended 2 classes and would still be carving if the classes had not ended. She carved for 2 hours straight. She carved 2 turtles and a dolphin that we turned into necklaces. She was a pleasure to work with!!!!!!	Vince and Amanda
